This is a project that had long wanted to do because the truth is very simple and can be up and running in less than a couple of hours.
Well the first thing is to have the materials, all easy to get and they do not exceed 15 € (to me has come for a nearly 0 € as less than the screen (and computer) everything else is recycled and the screen and I had and went for about 3 € to 4 €, new shop is usually around € 9.
Materials:
- 16x2 LCD HD44780 compatible DB25 Male
- 10K Variable resistance Variable Resistance 100 ohm
- PC power connector
Well once we have everything you need to get down to touch work with the schedule is this:
The original kick it Neoteo but I've changed the pin R / W putting it directly to ground, as this pin is used for reading / writing LCD, setting it to put the LCD mass as write-enabled directory. The original is connected to pin 14 of DB25.

First forntal plastic trim PC with a couple holes potentiometers, I use the little ones are not "handle" not for anything in particular that was just what I had on hand.

After checking that everything fits well and is well focused, once this piece (which is almost half the work)
This LCD is the aspect of their welds made, 11 lines in total for the LPT1 and 2 for feeding (+5 V and Gnd)
here and everything is mounted the DB25 and the molex to the power supply to +5 V (on my cable source RED) and Gnd. Just need to put an adhesive for make it more beautiful.

Well after installing it to run it the program I'm using LCD smartie
5.4.1 on Windows 7 and no problems! Also
still investigating what else is out there more programs for the LCD and get a list of programs and plugins
